Dear Mr John Forrest,
I am a resident of Western Australia and I believe we should federate in the upcoming referendum for a number of reasons.
Firstly, I think it is ludicrous that the decisions about our colony are made thousands of miles away in England. They have no idea what we are experiencing over here and therefore can't make informed judgements on what we require.
In addition, we currently do not have a unified army, it means that our small West Australian army can't communicate with the rest of the colonies when defending an attack. I am certain that our army is not strong enough on its own to thwart an invasion from another country.
I understand some people think it is working fine just the way it is however, with the reasons I have already given in addition to the fact we have different railway and postal systems means that everything is NOT working fine as it is.
I strongly believe that we should federate.
A concerned WA resident.
