Room 17 (and Baysie Room 1) I have just met Robin Stevens in person and it was AMAZING.
I contacted her on Twitter as I was not available to meet her for her new book signing. I was thrilled to get her reply suggesting we meet today at Waterstones, (an English book shop, a little fancier than Dymocks).
We have spent a whole Term reading her first book 'Murder most unladylike' we drew pictures to create a new front cover, predicted who the murderer was and created evidence lists and maps based on her wonderful description and clever image inclusion , (Check here if you want to look back).
It was such an exciting moment...I was a little nervous, she is a celebrity in my eyes, an author of an incredible book series and the author of a potentially new series of mystery books. (which I have now bought and will add to our class library). I entered the book shop with a deep breath and all of a sudden I had met her, shook hands and dived right into the new book! Our conversation was instantly calm, as if we had been friends for years.
More details on the new book to be spoken about in class. The cover is intriguing, the story behind it needs to be explored. We shall engulf ourselves in the book when I am back.
Robin signed two books for me and recommended a third. I left in awe of the whole experience. What a meet. Thank you Robin Stevens!
