I have grown up with a very isolated family on my mum's side. My family (mum dad and sister) all live in the North of England. My Auntie, Uncle, cousins and grandparents all live in the South of England. When I was younger it always felt like a big holiday to go All the way down. Now I'm older, I realise that the trip is actually very short and insignificant!

I journeyed to Devon via train and my Grandpa meet me at the station. We had a proper English pub lunch and then went to visit my granny who is in a caring home as she has dementia (a horrible illness that slowly takes parts of your memory away until you forget the people who are closest to you as well as how to walk and ultimately how to eat). It is extremely sad to see my granny like this as in her prime, she was an amazing cook and a great person to talk to. Now she barely says anything although she loves rhythms so we regularly listen to music or try and play the piano together.

Next it was on to see my cousins, auntie and uncle. They are fantasticly fun and I love seeing them even if it is only once a year.

My cousins are 18 and 20 years old which means they are both too cool for anything! They have just started working and both are looking to travel to different parts of the world this year.

I had a heap of fun spending time with them all. The best part was attending 'the garden show' all the local farmers show off their BIG vegetables and there are little games that you can play to win money. My cousin managed to win 50p (about $1) on a weird game involving marbles! What a win!

We also came 2nd in the egg throwing challenge where each pair had to throw an egg without it breaking. You go further and further back until eventually there is no way you can throw it that far and it smashes in your hands....yuck. I can still smell the egg now.

Time now for me to head home and see my parents. I haven't seen them in over a year so naturally I am very excited.

Great to see maths tasks being completed and of course we are now up to Unit 20 of the spelling so I will check in on how many columns you are completing for the loops when I return.
